From the Nature Isle to the Music City: Meet Kamala Aaron - Caribbean Immigrant, Podcast Host, Trailblazer
The Roots
Roseau, Dominica — a small Caribbean capital where the mountains meet the sea and everyone knows your name. That's where Kamala Aaron's story begins.
Born and raised in the heart of the Eastern Caribbean, Kamala's roots run deep in Dominican soil. A journalist by training, a storyteller by nature, and a trailblazer by track record; she made history as the first female Press Secretary to the Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica. Before that, she was a News Director who led newscasts to #1 ratings, a talk show host who commanded audiences, and a spokesperson who shaped the media landscape of the Nature Isle.
Then Hurricane Maria hit in 2017. And like so many Caribbean people before her, the path shifted — but the purpose never changed.
The Now
Today, Kamala balances her role at a leading technology company with family life alongside her husband, Dr. Philbert Aaron — Dominica's Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations — and their young son, Oluchi. Their story is Caribbean excellence in motion: from a small island to the global stage, without ever losing the rhythm of home.
Beyond the corporate world and diplomacy, Kamala remains fiercely passionate about public relations, Caribbean politics, pop culture, media, and fashion; the FASH-ON, honey. The same fire that lit up newsrooms in Dominica now fuels everything she builds.
The Caribbean Immigrant
Through The Caribbean Immigrant podcast; a podcast for Caribbean immigrants and the Caribbean diaspora, and her exclusive newsletter, It's Giving Caribbean Immigrant, Kamala serves up the stories of Caribbean people who've left crystal waters for concrete jungles. Stories of immigration, identity, community, and reinvention - told with all the warmth, rhythm, and flavor that make us who we are.
Listeners and subscribers get more than interviews. They get Kamala; her passions, her perspective, her Caribbean realness woven into every episode and every edition. It's personal. It's cultural. It's home.
In Her Words
"Listen nah," Kamala says with that unmistakable Caribbean passion. "I want to tell OUR story — the real story of Caribbean people. Not just the sunshine and beaches, but the struggles and successes, the laughter and lessons. I want to hear voices that sound like home, share stories that feel like family, and celebrate the journey that connects us all."
